Ministering Love, Joy & Hope to Everyone in the Community!
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Matthew 22:37-40 NKJV

Our Core Values
When we talk about core values, we are referring to the fundamental beliefs that build our identity.
They guide our behavior giving us a compass of what is adequate, desirable and the will of God
When we don’t act in accordance with our core beliefs, we feel we are betraying the essence of who we are.
Core values answer the question “who are we? what defines us? what is really important to us?
*OUR IDENTITY*(who we say we are),
*OUR THEOLOGY*(who we say God is)
*OUR ACTIVITY* (how we do what we do).
1
Love
Love is a very important value to us. Love underpins everything that we do. It is very much ‘the why’ of who we are. Love is evident in our relationships with each other and in our actions to support our community and our world
Love is a fundamental characteristic of who God is and it’s a value that is to describe His children as well.
At Alpha & Omega we develop our value of love through: our worship times together; sharing stories of how God and Jesus show love to us; modelling positive interactions and encouragement; supporting those in need, in our community and in our world; and many other ways.
“We love because he first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
2
Generosity
This is the core Christian value of being kind and unselfish, especially with our money and time. By focusing on what we are giving rather than on what we are receiving, we create a more outward orientation toward the world which shifts our focus away from ourselves. We practice generosity not only by meeting practical needs through our offered services, but also by readily offering a listening ear, compassion and friendship.
“The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.” – Proverbs 22:9
3
Respect
Respect builds feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing.
Respect promotes cooperation and makes it easier for us to achieve our common goals.
A Christian value is to be conscious that God has created all people in His image. As a response, we show respect to all.
“Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the king.” – 1 Peter 2:17
4
Hope
The value of hope is confident expectation. Hope or hopefulness enhances coping and improves quality of life in a person. Lack of hope is associated with depression and anxiety, which impact negatively on quality of life.
“There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” – Proverbs 23:18
